Terms & Conditions


These Terms & Conditions apply to all lessons offered by Granite City Music Tuition. By enrolling in lessons, the student (or parent/guardian) agrees to these Terms & Conditions.
 

Lesson Structure

Granite City Music Tuition operates primarily on a block booking basis. 

Lessons will be available on a regular weekly or fortnightly schedule, with students retaining a lesson slot.

A limited number of ad-hoc lessons for new students may be available during holiday periods or quieter times throughout the year, subject to availability.
 

Payment & Fees

Lessons are 30 minutes long.

The price is £91 per block (equivalent to £22.75 per lesson). This is in line with the recommended private teaching rates set by the Musicians' Union.

Payment for new students must be made via BACS at the time of booking. This will confirm and secure your slot.

Blocks are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to others.

To retain your lesson slot, payment for the next block must be transferred via BACS on the same day that the current block ends.


Missed Lessons

If a student is unable to attend an in-person lesson for any reason (apart from approved holidays listed below), the lesson will still be delivered either:

* Online
* Work posted to Google Classroom

As lessons can now be delivered flexibly in person, online or through Google Classroom, I no longer operate a cancellation policy.


Holiday Allowance

The following holiday allowances apply: 

* Summer: up to 2 lessons carried forward
* Easter: 1 lesson carried forward
* October: 1 lesson carried forward
* Christmas: 1 lesson carried forward

At least 2 weeks' notice must be given for holidays. Longer notice is always appreciated where possible.

If I ever need to cancel a scheduled in-person lesson, the lesson will be delivered either:

* Online during the scheduled lesson time (where possible), or
* Via work posted to our Google Classroom
 

Illness

To keep everyone safe and well, students must not attend lessons if unwell and must be completely symptom-free for :

* At least 48 hours for general illness
* At least 5 days for sickness/diarrhoea

A message will be sent on the morning of the lesson asking you to confirm that the student is symptom-free. Please reply, even if it is just with a thumbs-up.

This includes any symptoms that may be contagious, including:

* Cough
* Sore throat
* Cold symptoms
* Fever
* Sickness
* Diarrhoea

What may feel like a mild illness to one person can cause serious complications for others, and I also have vulnerable family members to protect.

Kindly ensure your child is aware of this policy and that anyone responsible for bringing them to lessons is informed as well.

Termination of Lessons

If a student wishes to end lessons, 4 weeks’ notice is required. 

Lesson fees during the notice period remain payable.
